Boat Charters in Portland, Maine
Three Different Charters with Three Different Experiences
Sail Portland
Captain Ian has been working on boats for as long as he can remember. He was introduced to the boating life in Florida and at the age of 19 decided to make his way up here to start captaining. He started his career on the midcoast and his ventures took him all over the world. He eventually made his way down to Casco Bay and purchased his own boat, the Elenor Hawkes, to do life on the water his way. The beautiful sailboat is based on the design of an old lobster fishing boat, and he manages the whole sailing experience himself as a one man crew. With a max attendance of only six guests, you get an intimate look at what it takes to run a sailboat, as well as a personal experience with someone who took the leap and decided to call this place home. Lucky Catch Cruises
This currently operating lobster boat is one of the best experiences on the water in portland. Take this cruise if you want to get a sense of what all the hardworking lobstermen of Maine do every day (maybe you’ll understand lobster prices after this trip). Spots are limited so everyone in attendance can haul and bait lobster traps. Captain Tom will teach you a little history of the industry and the conservation efforts for these wonderful animals. Captain Tom got his first job on the water in 1984, and hasn’t turned back. Since then he has become an expert on the local lobster fishing spots. Don’t worry, when you're done you can purchase your catch at the wholesale boat price, which is a pretty sweet deal. Make your reservation here.
Maine Coast Cruising
This is definitely one of the more unique cruises in Portland. The captains, Phil and Coleman, wanted to create a cruise that didn’t offer the same route day in and day out. They wanted to give the customer the ability to choose where they go and what they eat. Everything you book with them is a private experience. With many options to choose from and the possibility to extend the trip if you want to stay out longer, you’ll definitely enjoy your time with them on the water. Captains Paul and Coleman have partnered up with local restaurants to make it easier for you to make your dining choices. From a local seafood market, SoPo Seafood, bringing you some of the freshest oysters, to Mexican comfort food, Taco Trio, that you won’t know you need until you try it. We may be a little biased towards this one because Captain Paul is our very own manager’s brother. If you go, let him know we sent you! Make your reservation here.
