The Ventile Commuter Raincoat from Private White is the ultimate hooded raincoat designed to tackle any commute within any city any time of year.

Details
  • 100% waterproof with fully taped internal seams in our signature copper sealing tape
  • Single breasted, fly-fronted with RIRI-zip and stud centre-front fastening
  • 8-gauge centre-front copper zip
  • Ventile® stud bearer withhold- tab at the base to guarantee a quick no-fuss zip fastening for the centre front.
  • Raglan sleeve for additional ease of movement.
  • Detachable button-out liner provides added warmth and comfort for those colder days. The upper section of the liner has been quilted using our exclusive 100% merino wool wadding. This supplies extra insulation and protection for the chest, kidneys and upper back. (Wool is a thermal regulating fibre meaning that it is superior to goose feathers / ‘down’ as it can cool down or indeed warm up depending on the surrounding temperature). The lower section is made up of a 100% wool flannel, woven locally in Lancashire
  • The liner boasts a patch a smart phone friendly patch pocket
  • Detachable stud-secure hood with drawstring channel copper toggle & eyelets
  • Two internal stud secure pockets
  • External jet-pockets over which sit a pair of welt pockets inversely placed to shield the pocket opening from the rain.

  • Outer: 100% cotton - and in our assessment this is the best 100% cotton in the world.
  • Ventile® was designed and developed up the road from our Manchester factory at the direct request from Winston Churchill during World War II. The final brief given to Manchester’s Shirley Institute in 1943 by the Ministry of Defence was to create a cloth that would help prolong the survival rates of RAF Pilots.
  • Ventile® was famously used in the first ever summit of Mount Everest in 1953
  • The mercerised yarns in the cloth are designed to swell when exposed to moisture which ensures unparalleled levels of resistance and protection from the rain for a 100% natural fabric (i.e. non-synthetic)

Jack White, whose wardrobe is tapped for inspiration. Jack White served in World War 1 and enjoyed motorcycle & car racing, but the classic designs offered by Private White V.C. Can carry their wearers through many walks off life in the 21st century thanks to sensitive attention to detail, the best available fabrics and trimmings, and an experienced, passionate team of makers.
